Gemini Mythology: The Twins, The Lovers, The Twin Flames
There are a variety of Gemini myths that give us broader understanding of the energy at play, beyond just the Greek Mythology of Twin brothers of Castor & Pollux. We will explore the different archetypal energies in this post and what we can learn about ourselves through Gemini energy.
Gemini’s Celestial Location & Dates:
When we look to the sky, we will see the Zodiac constellation of Gemini positioned between Taurus and Cancer. Gemini takes up 26° of the sun’s 360° ecliptic path (the red line in the photo above).
Gemini Dates:
The Sun travels through Gemini along it’s ecliptic path from June 20th - July 17th each year. The date may change slightly from year to year as the sky is not a constant, so if you have a birthday on either June 20th or July 17th, you may hold cusp energy. The sky is a flow more so than a rigid system. Keeping in mind, these dates are according to ASTRONOMIC ASTROLOGY which is NOT Tropical, Sidereal or Vedic.

Gemini Mythology:
Myth 1: Castor & Pollux
These Gemini Twins, Castor and Pollux, were also sometimes called the “Dioscuri” meaning “Youth of Zeus.” However, one brother was mortal and one was immortal. They have a rather interesting origin/birth story. The Twins share the same mother, Leda, who was a Spartan Queen.
Zeus saw Queen Leda and wanted to get close to her but knew he couldn’t in his godly form, so he came up with the idea to turn himself into a swan and seduce Leda. No one is sure if it was consensual, honestly, and knowing Zeus, probably not. The same night Zeus had sex with Leda though, she also had sex with her husband, King Tyndarus. Leda became pregnant from both the King and Zeus at the same time. The myth states that the twins were born in an egg, which can be seen as an “en caul” pregnancy.
Because the Twins had two different fathers, Castor, was the mortal son of Leda and King Tyndarus whereas his brother, Pollux, was the immortal son of Leda and Zeus. (It’s mythology, just go with it lol)
Gemini Twins:
Castor = Mortal Brother
Pollux = Immortal Brother
When the Twins grew up, they became known as great horsemen and went on many world-wide adventures. Pollux, the immortal brother, was also a great fighter and boxer so in his travels he went around challenging people to boxing matches and won all of them.
The Twins also had a sister, Helen (of Troy). Helen found herself in a bad situation as she was kidnapped by Theseus, and her brothers came to her rescue. To get revenge, Castor and Pollux ended up kidnapping the daughters of Leucippus: Phoebe and Hileria.
In retaliation, Leucippus sent his nephews Idas and Lynceus to confront the Twins and fight them to get Phoebe and Hileria back. During this fight, Castor (mortal brother) ended up getting killed by Idas and Pollux (immortal brother) killed Lynceus.
Zeus then stepped in, killing Idas for killing Castor. A big mess that could have all been avoided if Zeus had just kept his weirdo energy to himself in the first place but HERE WE ARE. But nooOOOooooo had to be an evil seductive swan. (I’m not a fan of Zeus and you cannot make me be.)
Zeus then gave Pollux two choices:
Spend all of his time on Mt. Olympus (home of the Gods)
Give ½ his immortality to his mortal brother so they could alternate realms
Pollux chose to give ½ of his immortality to his brother. As Gods, the Twins helped shipwrecked sailors and sacrifices were made to them for favorable winds while sailing.

Myth 2: Gilgamesh and Enkidu
The epic of Gilgamesh is regarded as the earliest surviving notable literature and the second oldest religious text. It's fairly long, but I'm going to give you a very summarized version, I've included links down below if you'd like to do self-study beyond my interpretations.
The Epic of Gilgamesh, TLDR version:
Gilgamesh was the (Nephilim/Giant) King of Uruk/Ur (located in Iraq in modern times), and he was not a very nice King. He was extremely tyrannical and getting too out of control. The gods saw this and decided to make him an equal partner in order to balance him out in hopes that it would end his oppressive ways and help him see other sides of life. His father is identified as Lugalbanda, King of Uruk, and his mother is the wise cow goddess Ninsun, making Gilgamesh part man and part god, or, a hybrid/Demi-god.
The gods created a man named Enkidu that was equal in strength to Gilgamesh. Enkidu lived in the wild/nature whereas Gilgamesh lived the opposite lifestyle as a king. Eventually Enkidu ends up traveling to Uruk and challenged Gilgamesh to a test of strength. It was a very even match up but eventually Gilgamesh ends up winning and because of the equal pairing, Gilgamesh ended up befriending Enkidu because he respected his abilities and also saw his abilities as useful for himself.
They went off together to slay many "monsters" - one of the most notable being Humbaba, who was a sacred nature guardian and eventually cut down a sacred Cedar tree. Gilgamesh was definitely distracted from being an abusive King, but at the same time, Enkidu was starting to turn against nature, his natural state.
Here's where things get interesting, and this isn't in any of the stories but my intuition cannot stop going off about this part - Gilgamesh & Enkidu were way more than friends, they were also lovers/twin flames.
Fast forward to part of the story where the Goddess Inanna (Also Venus/Aphrodite - same soul) saw Gilgamesh's strength and was like, "I want him to be my divine partner." How Gilgamesh responded to that, was ... not great. Gilgamesh rejects Inanna’s advances after describing the harm she has caused to her previous lovers, he basically trolled/roasted her publicly and mocked her. But in reality, he didn't want to be with her because he was IN LOVE WITH ENKIDU, BUT LIKE, SECRETLY.
(which is still is playing out within society today where men are secretly gay/bi but society still judges them for it so they lash out by disrespecting women)
Inanna however was pissed off at the public disrespect, overreacted a bit (ha, understatement probably) and sent down the bull of heaven to attack Gilgamesh.
Here we see Enkidu, the bull of heaven and Gilgamesh:
Combining their strength, they ended up killing the bull of heaven which is still playing out in the sky as Aries, Taurus & Orion (before getting to the twin flame/lovers of Gemini).
The sky tells us stories if you know what you’re looking at:
Aries = Ram/Enkidu (fire energy/flame)
Taurus = Bull of Heaven
Orion = Gilgamesh (fire energy/flame) - (fallen Lover/Twin Flame)
Gemini = Gilgamesh & Enkidu as lovers/Twin Flames
After they killed the bull of heaven, the gods were like "oh noooooo that's not good" and they decided to punish the pair by killing Enkidu, leaving Gilgamesh alone without his friend and lover.
Gilgamesh was DEVASTATED and spent the rest of his life on a quest to find immortality/Eternal Life, not for himself, but to bring back his lover and friend, Enkidu. He was never able to do so.
Gilgamesh's soul eventually manifested/incarnated as Orion, which is literally a lower and singular version of the Gemini Twin Flames and Lovers. It represents a lower/unhealed/fallen version of his energetic archetype.
Maybe on an alternate timeline, Gemini could have been Inanna and Gilgamesh as besties after he admitted he was gay and this all could have been avoided. But, HERE WE ARE.
Astrological Interpretations of Gilgamesh and Enkidu as Gemini Energy:
Loss of Lover/Friends
Seeking only relationships with people they deem as worthy/on their level

Twin Flames of Gemini:
Twin Flames are not other parts of your soul or a soul divided, they are the one person who was made specifically for you so that you could learn balance between feminine & masculine energy.
Sometimes Twin Flames are meant to be your lover, sometimes they are meant to be your friend. It depends on your soul and your own lessons.
Gemini has an opportunity to choose the better sides of themselves vs the worse sides. Gemini has gotten so used to being manipulative within relationships and not respecting what they currently have that is has become their default but at the same time their soul is aching and hearts are craving healthy connections with people who feel like the other part of them/a perfect balance to their energy.
Twin Flames then are not a mirror or reflection, but a balance of energies.
I'd honestly put money on if we did research into how many people feel like they have a twin flame and then look to see if they have Gemini placements because this archetype is LOUD and also needs healing, desperately.
Major Stars in Gemini:
The Gemini Zodiac Constellation has a multitude of stars, but let’s explore the brightest and most notable stars and relate them to specific degrees of the zodiac.
